Weekend Round-Up

This weekend saw the recent relay endeavours – and success – continue apace, as the club competed in the Midland 3 & 4 Stage Cross Country version. With a contingent of some 15 athletes making the trip to the Animal Defence Centre, Melton Mowbray for one of the season-openers, chief plaudits for the day went to the Men’s ‘A’ Team of Sean Fenwick, Adam Brooks, Martin Gore, and Will Clapp as they secured third place against some top-level regional opposition, over a course measuring 4.25 miles, and incorporating several equestrian obstacles! The ‘B’ Team – boasting an eclectic mix of youth and experience – also performed well, with debutant Ollie Clarke rubbing shoulders with seasoned veterans Pete Leach, John Thompson, and Graeme Rolfe; while Rick Brown ploughed a lone furrow for the ‘C’ Team. In the women’s event, the ‘A’ Team of Karen Brooks, Sarah Ward, and Unity Hamilton-Harding began their campaigns with a solid showing, while the ‘B’ Team of Lianne Brooks, Lin Farrow, and Marise Taylor emphasised that there is plenty of strength-in-depth to call on for the season ahead!
