Making a Hash of the Festive Period!

While the majority of revellers were planning their New Year debauchery, nine committed HAC athletes were going the extra mile to truly earn their celebratory tipple; in the form of the Huncote Hash. Held over a testing six-mile route with a difference, ‘The Hash’ is well-regarded amongst hardened exponents of the cross country discipline, and sees runners confronted by sandpits and climbs to test even the most intrepid.

Showing no ill-effects from the holiday season, both Ady King and Matt Driver took top-15 spots with Ady in tenth (44:33), and Matt (45:46) three places back. Shane Edge (71st, in a time of 52:31) continued his return to race-sharpness, with Graham Rolfe (110th, 55:35) and Nick Johnston (134th, 57:55) also breaking the hour mark. Nicola James (173rd, in 61:59) headed a quartet of women, covering the terrain along with Jackie King (226th, 67:35), Jo Johnston (246th, 69:00) and Lin Farrow (279th, 72:41) rounding off proceedings among the 338 finishers.
