MIDLAND VETS TRACK & FIELD 2008

FIXTURES
Yes its time to train for track & field.
As a part of the Harborough AC fixtures we participate in the Midland Vets Track & Field League which also culminates in a cup final. The league is 4 fixtures at local athletic stadiums always held on a Wednesday evening. We compete against local clubs i.e. Nuneaton, Charnwood, Nottingham,Leamington, Mansfield, Rugby & Northampton & Tamworth

The events range from 100m to 3000m on the track. A fantastic team event is the relay at the end of the evening which usually brings some drama and excitement.
Field events can also be tried i.e. Long Jump, High Jump, Shot, Javelin etc.
Some of the more specialised events are available such as Pole Vault and Hammer.

WHO CAN TAKE PART ? . Ladies & Gents. Anybody providing you are a Vet of any age !!and reasonably fit and healthy. If you are interested and would like to join in or even offer help marshalling or general support, please let Tony Harrison know. Mobile 07753-928781.

TRAINING: In addition to your Tuesday and Thursday club sessions we gather at Kettering Track every Saturday morning for more specific speed work sessions together with drills and preparation exercises. You would be welcome to come and join us at 9.00am to 10.am any Saturday up to the season starting in May

LEAGUE FIXTURES

7th May., Mansfield. Start time is always 7.15pm ( We tend to share transport )
11h June Nuneaton
9th July Rugby
13th Aug Charnwood ( Loughborough ) This year Harborough will be jointly running this evenings proceedings so lots of helpers will be required.

CUP FINAL
14th Sep Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham.

Other dates in the track season to watch for are:
COUNTY CHAMPS ( Open to all ). At Safron Lane, Leicester usually first weekend of May. Watch out for entry forms ( usually available in March )
Open meetings at also held at Charnwood during May through to Sep usually one meeting per month. Entry Forms will be on the notice boards.

If you would like any advice on throwing events such as Discus, Shot and Hammer please let Dave Oram know. David can be persuded on occasions to run throwing clinics to give help and guidance.
