Over the Christmas period results were published for the annual Kettering charity cup cross country at Wicksteed Park, with 5 senior & a dozen junior members braving the conditions. In the senior / veteran men’s 10Km race, Will Clapp was our first club runner home followed by Michael Donnington, making his debut in the event & Dave Oram completing the line-up. Results from the women’s 4.9Km race; Karen Brooks finished 8th lady home claiming the Northants masters silver medal with Lianne Brooks close behind in 13th position.
Also over the festive period was Harborough’s interclub Christmas handicap. The now traditional social event which is proceeded by drinks, cakes & mystery prizes, is ran over a 4Km route around the southern estate pitting club members against the clock and each other as runners are handicapped by the time of the slowest runner minus the individuals PB time for the distance. Of the 24 runners participating first home was Toby Fletcher in an elapsed time of 26:17, pipping Pam Hilliam to the post by just 5 seconds with Natalie Ives third another 10 seconds behind. Fastest time on the day was set by Tom Ward, who was completing a double session after setting a new PB time earlier in the morning at Harborough parkrun.
Like Tom those taking advantage of the Saturday morning events & setting new personal best times were: Kenny Anderson, Richard Brown, and Tom Hayes at the Harborough edition, Andrew Holt at the Dolgellau parkrun & Adam Stewart in Leamington Spa.
