Saturday saw the next round of this yearís North midlands XC league, with event three being hosted in Heanor, Derbyshire; an infamously challenging route and when club coaches John Thompson and Pete Leach advise you itís a hard course, you know you're in for a real challenge. Reports back from the team described the course as having a wide array of terrain with some challenging boggy and muddy technical sections mixed in with multiple steep inclines. Matt Driver again impressed over the natural terrain as the newly elected club captain for the discipline lead his seven-man team from the front.
Matt came home in 39:18 for 45th place overall, followed by Tom Kershaw in 43:12 and Jamie Thompson with a stand out performance clocking in 43:57 for 125th position. Next home was Peter Attenborough with a time of 46:41, Graeme Rolfe in 49:13 before an interclub battle between Ian Southwell & Gary Wallis with the latter dipping in first by just two seconds.
In the Ladies 6Km race, Jacquie Hanmer was first back for the club and claimed 2nd F50 with a time of 32:21 before another interclub battle ensued between Marise Taylor & Tracey Southwell, with Marise just edging out Tracey by five seconds with some impressively clean white socks.
