Chequered Flag for Grand Prix Series
An oppressive, sticky tuesday evening saw a conclusion drawn to the 2009 East Midlands Grand Prix Series around the roads and paths of Milton Keynes. In a consistent show of strength for the Club, there were four top-five age range finishes on the evening, with Will Clapp, Richard Bufton, Karen Brooks and Lin Farrow placing 4th, 5th, 3rd and 2nd in their respective categories.
The overall Series results underlined the endeavour and success shown by the Club across all terrains thus far this year, with no fewer than 6 top-five overall finishes! In the Series, points are awarded according to the individual finishing position in each race (i.e. 1st place = 1 point), with the best five races counting in each runner's total.
In the Female Under 20 category, Jessica Edge took the plaudits, winning the group with a total of 6 points from 5 races - a huge congratulations to her!
Richard Bufton continued his impressive form with 2nd place in the Men's Vet50 category (12 points), well backed by the evergreen Shane Edge in 5th place overall (33 points).
