Youngsters Show True Heart
A group of youngsters from HAC took part in the Heart of England Young Athletes League match hosted by Kidderminster & Stourport AC on Saturday 6th June 2009. In spite of the contiuous heavy rain there were some very spirited performances from the athletes.
Most notable was the 2nd place in the U17 boys 800m by Jake Watson. His time of 2mins 26.5seconds was excellent considering he had not competed in an 800m race previously. Later in the day he went on to win the U17 boys high jump with a height of 1m 40cm.
In the U17 boys sprints Roy Barber dealt with the wet and windy conditions to finish 2nd in both the 100m and the 200m. He equalled his PB in the 100m with a time of 12.5seconds and created a new PB in the 200m with a time of 25.48seconds.
Isaac Watson ran the U11 boys 75m and finished a creditable 5th.
Sarah Ward won the U17 girls 1500m in a time of 5mins 29.6seconds
Martha Clapp completed the U13 girls 1500m in a time of 5m 49.1seconds
Bethany Ellis confirmed her return to form after a recent injury with a very strong sprint finish which moved her from 4th to 2nd place in the finishing straight and a time of 2mins 49.3seconds in the U13 girls 800m.
Molly Watson was very competitive throughout the U11 girls 600m. Considering she was probably one of the youngest runners amongst the 12 competitors her time of 2mins 15seconds for 5th place was most impressive. There is lots more to come from Molly as she gains experience.
