After a couple of weeks of cross country it was back to the roads for many of Harborough AC’s distance-running specialists. The Leicester Marathon saw Steve Foxon complete the classic 26.2 mile distance in 4hr 4 mins, whilst in the Half Marathon race held alongside Bob Allsopp clocked 1hr 42 mins running barefoot, with Matt Driver joining the sub-80 minutes club with 1hr 18 mins, giving him 11th overall in a field of over 2,000. Graeme Rolfe made the long journey to Wales to compete in the Snowdonia Marathon – a worthwhile trip as he delivered a time of 3 hr 56 mins.
Meanwhile at Welland Park HAC runners were well represented at the ever-popular 5 kilometre Parkrun, with Martin Gore, Tom Ward and Andy Holt leading home the 11-strong HAC contingent, finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Hannah Eveleigh and Lizzie Clapp made their Welland Park Parkrun debuts, and promptly rewrote their age-group records, with Eveleigh running 20-18 in the 40-44 age-group and Clapp 21-27 in the 11-14 category.
