Week #34 22nd-28th Aug
Following on from the great success of the Round Harborough Relay earlier in the year, Wednesday saw 26 club members, make the short trip to Weston-by-Welland for another inter club relay social event. The warm summers evening & country setting were the perfect backdrop for event which was comprised of 3 off 3.1 miles legs & a longer 5.1 miles route, each starting / finishing at the Wheel & Compass pub - a trademark of one of the events masterminds & course creator Pete Leach.
Fastest overall on the night was the team made up by Kenny Anderson, Gary Wallace, Gareth Wood & Lewis Dinsdale stopping the clock at 1:39:09.
Fastest short leg went to Sean Fenwick with a time 18:41, on his first of two outings on the night, while the honour on the longer 5.1 mile route went Matt Driver for a time of 27:55.
A shout must go to the Pete Leach mastermind and course creator, John Thompson for spending 4 hours setting up and marking out the route, Rick Brown, Chris Loake, Ann Humphries, Yvonne Barber and Graham Hillier on the timing, Sean Fenwick, Karen Brooks, Andrew Shrieve, Beverley Brown, Steve Driver and the chap on the bicycle who’s name escapes me…
A night previous & with a summer coming to a close, 3 members took part in the open meeting at Corby Rockingham Triangle one of the last opportunities to compete on the outdoors track for this year. Hannah Smith & Tyler Chapman both took part in the 200m, with Tyler also lining up in the 1 mile race next to Karen Brooks.
Hanna Louise Stewart completed her 65 parkrun while debuting at the Rutland water event. Marise Taylor & David Oram both took part at the Corby edition while at Welland park 23member were in attendance with Peter Oliver, Christine Voelkerling, Matt Driver all posting personal best times.
