Tuesday night saw three members racing at the Weedon 10Km, arguably the East Midlands Grand Prix series most challenging event. First runner home was Dean Rusby in a time of 0:52:32 for 214th position, followed Ray Lack less than minute behind to claim 1st M70 on the night with Gary Wallis just behind the pair in 0:53:44 for 230th place.
A night later and over somewhat different ‘terrain’ Adam Eales took to Nuneaton track for the combined Leicestershire & Northamptonshire 10,000M county track championship. The 25 laps proved a gruelling challenge in the sweltering conditions but were helped with the familiar faces of Will Clapp and Graham Hillier on time keeping duties, while Lianne Brooks was training to the side of the track. Despite the tough conditions Adam’s 12th place overall on the night was good enough to win gold as 1st senior Northamptonshire male.
Friday night saw the return of the popular Northants 5k Race Series, with round three being hosted at Brixworth country park (Pitsford Reservoir). Tom Kershaw once again showed his recent good form, first home for the club in 5th place, followed by Jamie McAllister taking 11th, Steve King 45th, Amanda King 108th & Louise McAllister 111th all finishing well with in the top half of a 264 strong field.
Just two days later the husband and wife duo of Steve and Amanda King were at it again taking part in a newly established 10km race set in the grounds of Grimsthorpe castle. Amanda spoke afterwards of lovely rolling scenery which was not conducive to fast times and described the course as a mixture of trail and XC with some metalled paths and even some stepping stones included for good measure. Steve was home first in 49:54 for 15th and was 2nd in age group whilst Amanda finished 57:50 for 42nd and 3rd in her age group.
