Race The Train
There was multitude of varying events happening over the past week and a half with club members competing from the far reaches of Canada to the valleys of Wales.
On Sunday, the Holts returned to Tywyn, mid Wales for the annual Race The Train spectacle, where over a thousand competitors from across the globe gathered to take part in one of the multiple distances available at this iconic event. Andy completed the 14 mile Rotary challenge option, in 01:55:01 finishing in 168th place of the 830 finishers; while Carry took on the 10KM Quarry Challenge clocking in at 01:02:15 for 219th of 427 finishers. Impressively both took over the 3mins from their times from 12months previous.
At event six of Leicestershire’s summer road running league the Carl Rutt Memorial 10K (Hermitage 10k) in Whitwick, Coalville the club had three runners participating in this year’s series penultimate event. First home was Jamie McAllister in the centenary position posting 0:43:19 closely followed by Richard Bufton just 15 seconds back whilst claiming 2nd in his MV50 category and Chris Loake in 253rd place of the 464 finishers clocking 0:51:35.
Tony Harrison ventured north to taking part in the 30th edition of the Darlington 10KM. Run entirely around the streets of the county Durham market town, this year event drew in near on 1,900 participants with Tony finishing a very respectable 360th in 0:45:08.
Further afield the Stewart family made the most of their recent holiday to Ontario, Canada taking in the picturesque setting of historical Neustadt as part of the villages 10th anniversary 10Km & 5Km event. Over the 3.1 mile distance Adam run an impressive 0:25:10 for 16th place out of 83 runners; while his sister Hannah completed her first 10Km just a week after her 15th birthday with father Ade, the youngster finishing 22nd with a time of 0:55:50.1 just dipping in 0.8 seconds ahead of her Dad.
