Autumn Is Here

With summer now firmly behind us, it meant it was time for another visit to Sutton Coldfield for this yearís autumn round of MCAA road relays. The club fielded five teams in all with two complete senior Women and Men teams with a third incomplete Menís. The 5.88Km route is a variation to the spring edition, with an undulating out & back section added at the iconic ice cream truck from the top of the park.

For the Ladies the quartet of Jill Postlethwaite, Jacquie Hanmer, Karen Brooks and Sarah Ward were the first home and highest ranked for the club posting a collective time of 01:13:12 finishing 26th overall, with the second team consisting of Lianne Brooks, Tracey Southwell, Marise Taylor and Lin Farrow taking 87th overall and 26th B Team in 01:30:31.
In the Senior Menís race, the A team consisting of Matt Driver, Tom Kershaw, Martin Gore, Gareth Wood, Nick Pollard & Tom Ward took 3 minutes off the time set 12 months ago clocking in a combined time of 02:08:02 for 44th overall and 34th A team. The Menís B team of Ade Stewart, Ian Southwell, Peter Attenborough, Jamie McAllister, Gary Wallis and Jamie Thompson finished 88th overall / 24th second team in 02:33:09. While the trio of David McClean, David Ward and Rick Brown made up the third incomplete team.

Ade Stewart was in action again the next day, this time taking part in a slightly further challenge when he completed the Draycote Water 20miler. Set in the heart of Warwickshire, the route consisted of four laps of the reservoir had 181 finishers with our Ade coming home in a respectable 51st position clocking in at 02:42:26.
