Midland Vets Track & Field Report #1
An outstanding night for sprinting with Chris Monk (M60), Nick Pollard (M35), Jill Roginski (W50) and Pam Hilliam (W70) all winning their 100m events and bringing home the maximum 8 points. Our Chairman John T continued to dominate the M60 2k walk with another successful win.
Further success in the 2k walk with Lin Farrow coming home in 2nd place with a finely tuned performance complementing her earlier 2nd place in the 400m (W60) and racking up 14 points for the ladies team. The strength and depth of Jill Roginskiís ability continued to shine as she clocked up a massive 24 points from her tremendous efforts in the High Jump and Javelin to complement her 100m and 400m track events. John Graham also scoring highly in the M50 High Jump, M40 Triple Jump and M35 Javelin bringing home 18 points for the men and proving age categories mean nothing when there are points at stake. With Marise Taylor switching to longer distances this season and turning out a fine 1500m PB, Karen Brooks made a magnificent return to the season with fabulous 2nd place (W35) also in the 1500m.
The team was strengthened by the return of Stuart Beard (Hammer & Walk) and Pete Leach (1500m, 100m & Shotput) and debuts from Jamie McAllister and Nick Pollard all adding to the energy and enthusiasm of the evening rounded off by two thrilling 4x200m relays with the Harborough Under 50ís relay team (Nick, Tracy, Ian & Rosemary) just 3 seconds faster than the Over 50ís (Chris, Marise, Jill & David). Well done to all involved for turning out a great team result and for your help and guidance of your new Team Captains who hope you all return for more success on the 16th May!
