Harborough Athletic Club is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all our members. We ensure the welfare of our members through the following:
- Safeguarding; The club has a Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedure which follows England Athletics recommended policies and procedures for children and adults at risk. Our Safeguarding Policy can be found here: Safeguarding Policy.
- Health and Safety; The club has a Health and Safety Policy to ensure club members can enjoy activities in the club safely: Health and Safety Policy
- Protecting children; The club requires all members to agree to the relevant England Athletics Code(s) of Conduct relevant to their membership on joining the club and on membership renewal. Codes of Conduct can be found here: Codes of Conduct In addition the Club has it’s Safeguarding Policy and Disciplinary Policy (which is part of the Club’s constitution and can be found here: Club Constitution)
- Anti Bullying; Bullying has no place in our sport or club; Codes of Conduct, our Safeguarding Policy, and the Club Disciplinary policy are there to prevent this happening and to take action if necessary.
- Coaching philosophy and practice; Coaches and Run Leaders in the club are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment providing sessions at the right level for all participants to enable them to maximise their ability, improve performance and enjoy athletics. All Coaches and Run Leaders sign up to the Coaching Code of Conduct, undertake Safeguarding training, and renew their licences at intervals proscribed by England Athletics: Codes of Conduct. - Disclosure; All members have a responsibility to report any concerns relating to breaches of the Codes of Conduct or concerns about any suspected wrong doing (eg criminal activity). These can be reported, in confidence, to the Club Chair or Club Secretary or either of the club’s Welfare Officers. Contact details for these Committee members can be found here: Contact Us
- The Club Committee; The Committee reviews Safeguarding and Health and Safety as a standing item on its agenda every month. The Lead Welfare Officer and Welfare Officer are Committee members.
