Great club turnout at the Harborough 5 and Carnival 10k
Last Tuesday 7th June saw another successful running of the Harborough 5 now in its 37th year. Given the increased compliance regulations from local authorities, the Canal and River Trust and UK Athletics, it’s only possible with the help of an army of volunteers. A special thanks from Harborough AC to John Thompson, who’s help and experience in setting up the course is invaluable, Martin Hughes who organises all the volunteers and Yvonne Barber, who helped through the day and organised the numbers and entries on the night.
As our ‘home’ race, it is always great to see a big turnout of 20 Harborough AC members in their yellow vests running. First home this year for the club was Garry Hodgkins in 32.00 and the first club female was Lucy Jenkinson in 33.19. There were 268 finishers this year compared to 191 last year.
Days after the Harborough 5, 44 Harborough AC members competed again in the new Harborough Carnival 10k on Saturday 11th June. With an impressive 8 runners in the top 20, Kyle Barber led the way for the club in 2nd place in 34.04, with Fleur Starcevic the first female club member in 35th place in 43.09
