Leicester Road Running League and EMPG

This year the club has been much better represented in the two main summer series for road running. East Midlands Grand Prix (EMGP) is a midweek series of 8 events run over the summer months. Jack Chennell was up at the sharp end of the competitive series and on the podium as 3rd overall. In the U20 Hal Eastwood was a solid 2nd overall. VetM55 Steve King 4th with Rich Hudson 6th.  Lou Harvey ran a PB of 48:57 at Milton Keynes 10km round to take first in her Age Group.

Leicester Road Running League (LRRL) proves to be as hard to enter as it is to take part, with races sold out of 600 places in a few hours.  Next year there is a proposal to alter the entries to go live 8am Sundays rather than clash with a lot of clubs’ training nights Tues 8pm… Again we have a really good turn-out across the 5,6,7 & 8 mile events. Each event counts toward the LRRL certificate scheme which needs 5 distances to register. We have 10 athletes who will receive this early next year, with others who just need one more distance.  More info at https://lran.org.uk/county-standards Just to note that it’s not just of elite runners this is a scheme that almost all can achieve.
