More Marathon News

Following Manchester and London attention switched to Milton Keynes on bank holiday Monday with more fantastic performances from club members over the classic 26.2m distance.

Steve King, getting his preparation 100% right, set a new Marathon PB in  3 hours and 11 minutes 05 seconds. Club record vet 55 and 5th place in age category.

We also had a mixed relay team competing;

Amanda King (captain)

Lou Harvey (PB 10k leg of 51.20)

Glyn Bruley

Sam Batten

Excellent collective time of 3 hours 51 minutes.

Potentially next year, or in other marathons, we could get more marathon relay teams involved? A great way for those thinking about a marathon to experience the atmosphere and race organisation, groups of club members enjoying an event together, as well as for experienced marathoners wanting to try something a little different.

We haven’t finished yet! New member Bill Kerr continues his marathon season with Stockholm on June 3rd. Before that founder member of the club Pete Leach runs the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (14th May). Pete is running in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Appeal (a cause that is close to his heart).
