Older, Faster, Stonger
Harborough AC age-group club records went tumbling, with Steve King, Karen Brooks and Rick Brown setting new marks in MV50, WV55 and MV65 categories respectively.
Brooks added to her string of club records at distances of 400 metres and above with a 37-20 clocking over five miles at Wellingborough, where conditions also suited Brown who ran 38-30 to dislodge Ray Lack’s previous record time from 2017.
Steve King took to the track for Kettering Town’s “Night of 5,000 metres”, which saw thirty athletes compete in four races over the classic 12.5 lap distance in warm conditions. King ran an impressive 19:22.4 to finally write Shane Edge’s 19:31.6 out of top spot, having stood as the club record for more than a decade.
Club representative Will Clapp said: “It’s always good to see club records go – except for the people who hold them, maybe! It shows the club progressing and our athletes improving through their hard work. A few club records going in the final senior track and field match of the season this weekend would be welcome – here’s hoping for good conditions at Loughborough for that”.
