Joseph O’Connell and Adam Barber (u20 men) and Beth Wallis (senior women) were all selected to represent Leicestershire and Rutland at last Saturday’s Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.
Joseph ran an outstanding race to finish first from the Leicestershire and Rutland team (32nd overall). Adam, continuing his recovery from an Achilles injury, ran a controlled race to finish 100th. Beth Wallis ran for the first time in the hugely competitive senior women’s inter-counties event and finished a highly creditable 197th.
The club congratulates all three athletes – being selected to represent the county is a real honour, and these races feature the best of the best runners in the country, so all should be proud of their achievements. Joseph and Adam will be representing the county in the English Schools Cross Country Championships at Hop Farm, Kent this weekend.
