The club has a rich history in cross country running and we’re about to embark on another series of competitive races. On a national level, we have the upcoming National XC Relays on 6th November 2021, which is a great event with all the top clubs and athletes from around the country. The iconic English National XC Championships takes place on 19th January 2022 at Parliament Hill and is open to all members who have to enter as individuals.

On a local level, we are members of the North Midlands XC League which is a series of four winter races in Derby (weekend just gone), Kettering, Heanor and Mansfield. These races are for Under 11s up to Vets and entry for club members is free. We have always entered teams and individuals in these races and aim to get a great turn out for the Kettering fixture in particular. The Leicestershire County XC Championships are also on the 8th January 2022 at Burbage Common.

In parallel the junior athletes can compete in all the above events but they also have their local schools championship, one recently and the next on 3rd February 2022. The County School XC Championships is held on 14th February 2022 at Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire.

As a club, we’ve been competing in the North Midland XC League since our inception in 1984 and have some notable achievements from athletes like Pete Leach (age group winner 1992-93), Sean Fenwick (senior men’s winner on four occasions) and Hannah Eveleigh (senior female winner on 3 occasions) amongst many other impressive performances.
